Reply with quote | #1 | What is the word on Vitality these days? Are they still trying to replace lost market share? Who are their major distributors. I know in the past they were strategically aligned with SYSCO. Is this still the situation? They are owned by Goldner Hahn, a private equity firm. Please provide all the nity gritty!
Thanks to all!

They were owned by Lykes/Pasco ( Tampa Fl. ) a few years ago. I don't know if they sold the company. |

Reply with quote | #5 | Vitality was sold in 1999 to Caxton Iseman out of New York combined with Engle Urso Fullmer of Texas. They took a 1.2 Billion dollar company to 165mm. Goldner Hahn of Minnesota purchased Vitality in 2004. They are approx 155mm and it looks like Nestle has purchased them in 2009. Sysco is 50% of their business. Their machine sucks, their pricing is high, their arrogance is second to none. They underpay sales reps and renege on bonus payments. They hate Sysco and any other National Distributor. If they are doing well, it's they're doing better than forecast. Forecast down and hitting it isn't doing well, it simply is catching the right side of bonus for the inside team.
Another example of a great privately held company being destroyed by investment bankers and their internal (think WIBS) bickering.

Thanks for the info on Vitality formerly known as Lykes Pasco Foodservice. They were once a great company. Sad to see them (and others) melt under the heat of the market and competition!

Back in the day, they were the juice company. I was lucky, to have won a promtion and be able to visit there operation. They were a class act company. Here is what happen, they got into bed with Sysco. We all know how Sysco works, Sysco get a better deal, and they send them down the road. It is just an example of how Sysco operates. Sysco wants all of there customers to be loyal, but they do not practice what the preach. Lykes Pasco is just one example of how the Sysco's of the world can destory a business, it is very sad. |

| Vitality Foodservice agrees to Nestle acquisition | | | | | TAMPA, Fla. (Nov. 20, 2009)—Vitality Foodservice Inc., which provides beverages to the foodservice industry, said Thursday that it has agreed to be purchased by Nestle's professional division for an undisclosed sum. The deal does not include Vitality's European manufacturing and distribution operations. The privately held company is a part of Goldner Hawn Private Equity. "The opportunity to join with Nestle Professional provides us with very complementary product lines," Vitality Foodservice CEO Gary Viljoen said in a statement. Nestle's professional unit concentrates on the out-of-home food and beverage market. The acquisition is expected to close within 30 days. | __________________ FSGuru
