I still cant understand how Amatos Pizza in Maine would switch there business from Micucci to Perkins because Perkins is working on 5% over invoice and Micucci was working on a true 10%. Does Amatos not realize that us vendors kick these idiots back big money on sheltered income programs? Any vendors out there that deal with Perkins knows what Im talking about. These guys arent shy about letting us know about the 17 million etc. they receive back from vendors yearly. Amatos needs to ask there vendors what they kick back yearly to Perkins. If Amatos really thinks that the invoice price is the final price thats not saying much about management. Amatos switched there business to the kings of sheltered income. All us vendors know the Perkins game and jack there prices to cover all the stupid money they ask from us which means companies like Amatos should either stick with the honest little guy or go to the major broadliners who have better ways of getting the best deals from us vendors. |

Reply with quote | #18 | food pro, i think i have an idea of what type of products you sell and i feel for you but you are with the other houses and the business is following your product so if your down with us you should be up with the others so dont feel bad. As far as getting Amatos they will screw it up. Ive seen them have to go in and beg a multi unit not to drop them and even offering them money to stay with them. Jack boajin is the sales manager for us and he is pretty smooth and knows how to patch things up but eventually the customer out smarts us. our biggest prob is management. Crawford has his whole family squeaking out salaries over here and the 2 brothers are scared to death of this guy. All Crapford does all day is take football pools and use his favorite saying to everyone "at the end of the day"This guy should be on the big show on WEEI talking sports than running a company. We also have Panton that heads up purchasing. This smuck started as a janitor for Perkins and worked his way to driver and than warehouse. This dope knows nothing about food and he heads a group of idiots one stupider than the other. They need to clean house and get some experience over here or just sell the company to Gordon while they have something to sell and give all us employees a chance to thrive. Our saying is "our people deliver " but most of us have a saying that says "just keep deliveing the paycheck smucks" |

We did lose Naked Fish...but not "Not Your Average Joes"...however I have heard talk around the office that "we might walk away from it" because of the margin and a unit that is out of state and a "pain" to service.... |

I know for a fact they still service Not your average joes but eventually the perkins portion of the business will be consolidated with sysco and probably another national broadliner like US or PFG. logistically it makes sense for joes to do this due to the fact they are opening more locations in other states. for now joes is smart by getting the best of perkins and thas probably why you are hearing they may want to drop joes. The joes business is definetly up for grabs. |

is there any truth that Gordons is looking at Perkins? I am from Mass and have been living and working in South Fla. for the last 2 years and i am moving back north this summer. the battle between cheney/sysco and gordon is to much to handle. didnt realize perkins did food. though it looks like i wont want to work for them the idea of gordon moving in to new england sounds interesting. is anyone hiring up there? |

Reply with quote | #24 | Something is definetly going on at the office, its like no one is speaking to each other and that everyone is under the microscope..it is definetly making a bad situation worse and everyone even more paranoid and looking.I am definetly conviced from todays tone that jobs will be lost. Perkins is definetly not on a pedestal anymore. |

GFS is for sure coming to New England but I doubt seriously they would waste time looking at buying perkins. Perkins is better off selling to a larger paper company like Trimark. GFS is capable of just plain out opening a DC in mass if they want. If perkins is trying to dump there company on a foodservice distributor there is also Reinhart food that may be willing to look at them. Be sure whoever does make a move on Perkins will have to dump alot of staff. The dope in charge of purchasing that looks like James Belushi and his sidekicks need to be the first to go. I really dont know how much longer we will even waste time selling them. I can tell you that our budget for 2009 does not include the ridiculous fee they charged for the Gilette Stadium show that turned out to be nothing but a waste of time and money. |

IF THINGS ARE SO BAD AT PERKINS QUIT THE BITCHING AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. JUST REMEMBER THAT ALOT OF OTHER BROADLINERS DONT WANT LAZY GUYS FOR SALESMAN WHO SELL ANYTHING LESS THAN 45-50K A WEEK AND THATS BEING GENEROUS. I HAVE RUN IN TOA COUPLE OF PERKINS SALES GUYS THAT ARE WRITING 25K A WEEK ASKING ME IF OUR COMPANY IS HIRING. JUST A HEADS UP, IF YOU ARE WRITING 25K A WEEK IN FOODSERVICE THATS NOTHING AND YOUR BETTER OFF KEEPING YOUR MOUTHS SHUT IF YOUR MANAGEMENT IS PAYING YOU FOR THESE STUPID NUMBERS. YOU WONT MAKE IT WITH ANOTHER COMPANY AND THE PRESSURE WILL BE ON YOU TO GET THE NUMBERS UP. 25K MAY BE GOOD IN THE PAPER BUSINESS BUT ITS PATHETIC IN FOODSERVICE. GET OUT AND HUSSLE YOU LAZY BASTARDS. CAN WRITE BUSINESS FROM YOUR COUCH. |

Reply with quote | #28 | Thanks for the advice, but us paper guys are more valuable than the lazy food guys.Perkins keeps paying those guys because they are afraid of them going to other companies and making them look bad.Perkins is a very proud company but if they do not cut the fat and start dumping the bums and stupid food ideas, the problems we are suffering will not stop but get worse. I am also tired of our lazy purchasing dept.I cant believe we are getting our clocks cleaned by Arrow and incredibly Berry,on an enmotion towel we are on average $8.00 per case higher, and forget the fuel charges.I am making my own move week after next and interviewing with Tri Mark. |

Any other suggestions of distributors looking for salesreps would greatly be appreciated. I want to try and move to another company while I still have a reputation in the business. These guys are killing me!! |

Call TriMark United East in South Attleboro Mass, they're a great company and are looking for reps that just want to sell supplies & equipment. |
